Solidarity Youth Spring 3


Kozhikode: The 3rd edition of Solidarity Youth Spring Film festival came to a close. Red-green-yellow jointly directed by Sherry, Jaleel and Shaiju was selected as best film in documentary category. Chaver directed by Abhilash Vijayan, was selected as best film in Short-film category. Priya Thuvassery bagged the award for best women director for her film ‘my sacred glass bowl’. Unity yet diversity directed by Ijas Mohammed won best protest documentary award.

Mannira directed by PA Ansari got special jury award. Praveshanotsavam directed by CMI Anil Philip, Ramaniyechiyude Namathil directed by Liju Thomas and Mounam peshumboth directed by Nisha Ponthathil got special mentions of jury.

Naseeb Ahmed- cinematographer for Unity yet diversity, Biju Chalad-editor of Red-Green-Yellow in documentary category and Ansar Sha-cinematographer for Chaver and editor of Paadapusthakam editor Vipin K got special mentions.

Jury was chaired by P. Baburaj and Biju Mohan, Mohammed Shameem, Y. Irshad, Shamsad Hussain and Anusri were members.

The closing session was inaugurated by Dr. K. Gopinath. He said, our time demands humanity beyond boundaries and the boundaries have fled thousands into death. Kalpatta Narayanan delivered the key-note address. Jury Chairperson P. Baburaj presented the jury report. Jury member Mohammed Shameem declared the awards. Dr. K. Gopinath and Kalpatta Narayanan distributed the awards. Solidarity state president T. Mohammed Velom presided the session. Nahas Mala, P. Ruksana, PAM Haneef, CM Shareef, KC Anwar and others talked. Solidarity general secretary Kalathil Farooq presented mementos to Soumitra Dastidar, Sudarsana Chakraborthy, Arputhammal and Saikath Biswas.

Madhu Janardhanan, Sherry, KA Saifuddin, Mohammed Shameem, Nasarulla Vazhakad and others talked in the discussion held on contemporary world cinema. The audience interacted with Arputhammal. About hundred films were screened in different categories of short film, documentary, feature film and music video.

This edition of the festival was themed ‘Nationality Sign in Sign out’.
